Amigurumi Sun

I crocheted a tiny sun with an orange blush.

011

But now that I look at these pictures, she looks like Pikachu.

It's a sun, I swear! Look:

021

Anyway, the principle is sound, I'm sure! And if you use a nice yellow colour instead of a ghastly mustard, it'll be really cute, I promise!

PATTERN

  2. Sc inc around (12).
  3. *Sc, sc inc* around (18).

  8. i love your patterns they are so cute. i really don't mean to sound like a crochet geek but i think 11 and 12 are supposed to be like-
    11:3sc (and so on)
    and
    12:2 sc (and so on)
    instead of
    11:2sc (and so on)
    and
    12:sc (and so on)
If i am wrong just realize that i was just trying to help.

I really love this pattern! But i'm still a bit new at this, I just made the 'body' part but I dont get how I have to make the Rays? Do you maybe have a video or something??

    ReplyDelete
  19. Chescat, I love your sun! He truly looks happy!

Janna, I don't have a video, but I'll try to explain it a little better.
First make the chain and join into a ring. Then:

    1. sc in the first ch
    2. half dc in the next
    3. dc + tr + dc on the next (all three in the same one)
    4. hdc in the next
    5. slip stitch in the next,
then just repeat that around the chain. Did that help at all?

  20. I am semi-new to crocheting Amigurumi (I've done about 5 and have threw half done and only just starte having the right side put and such after doing more research). I have to read online how to dothings I don't know and I can find out how to do the part you said as being, 3. dc + tr + dc on the next (all three in the same one). I know how to do the dc and tr stitch, but how do you do them all in the next stitch? If you could explain it, I'd be eternally grateful! By the way, I love all your amigurumi's they're really cute!

  25. Hi, I'm Fleur from Holland, and I also made your sun. I love it! I adjusted it just a little to make it a bit smaller (24 sc instead of 30). I'm also gonna crochet your cloud and your liquorice, they look great too! I posted the sun on my Ravelry account, so if you wanna see it: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/akaFlup/sun

  26. Hi! I love this amigurumi!!! Is so cute and tiny ^^! but I have a really beginner question... I'm just starting in the art of crochet and I am a little complicated with the patterns...I understand the first part, but I really dont understand the parts of the rays, specially the first part: Chain 43, join with a slip stitch in to a ring. Can you explain me a little bit?
well..I hopefully not be any trouble, because I just want to make this beautiful amigurumi =)

  27. Hey and thank you! Here's a link to a youtube video that explains it pretty well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWHPZrrzpmY Just watch the first 30 seconds or so and you should get it. Hope this helps :)

  28. ahh! okay, thanks you ;)
So I make 43 chains, right? and in these 43 chains I will make the rays.. I am wrong?

    ReplyDelete
  29. That's right. You just join the chains to a ring and then sc and so on into the chains. :)

  30. I made it for my mom. She loves it

  31. Hello
Thanks for this nice looking sun, I really like it alot.
I've just finished one, just have to update the ravelrysite on it... I guess i made the decreases wrong cause it turned out to small for the rays. No problem next one properly then

  36. Hi ! I tried your little sun pattern and it is very cute :o) I made it in cotton yellow and orange.
I used a smaller size crochet to make the ring or it would have been too large.
    Thank you for sharing !

  39. Hi! I can't believe i was able to make one from scratch jut by looking at your pattern!! thank you so much!!
I want to make a huge one so i can cuddle with it, do you know how i can increase its size??

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hey, just noticed your comment! You could just do more increase rounds until the size is right so on the next round "sc 4, sc inc", on the next "sc 5, sc inc" etc. until it's as big as you wish. Then just sc around for about the same amount of rounds, you'll have to see how it looks, maybe a few more or less. Then do the decreases in reverse, so if your last increase round was for example "sc 30, sc inc", do "sc 30, sc dec", then "sc 29, sc dec" etc. I hope this helps!

  40. What size hook are you using? I have attempted this and it seems to be extremely small. I'm using Novita 7 veljestä jarn. Did you use the same?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hey, sorry, I can't remember what hook I used anymore, but I used a thicker cotton yarn. If you want to use 7 veljestä try using double yarn, that should be about the same thickness.

    2. Kiitos! I'll give that a go! I'm trying to make something to go across the front of my baby's pram so she has something more interesting to look at :D

  41. I used very thin cotton yarn and my sun is like 4 cm tall.

  43. Love your pattern, so cute! One thing, when it says. "Sc in the next chain, hdc in then next" shouldn't it say "the next" not then next? Just wondering :P thank you so much for this great pattern!
